I have been interested in fibre arts for most of my life. Knitting began in Brownies, and other needle arts followed. Living in extremely isolated areas for many years encouraged a love of needlepoint and rug hooking as a main source of entertainment, along with a love of reading.
Moving to the Sunshine Coast helped develop new interests and friends. Doreen B. was among the first people I met, and she encouraged me to join the Sunshine Coast Spinners and Weavers Guild where I learned first spinning and then more recently weaving. I also have an interest in felting and recently led a workshop making felted bird houses to sell as a fundraiser for the Fibreshed. I’ve given felting instruction for classes at local schools as well. Recently I joined the local Fibreshed, and so the journey continues.
