LearnAlong: Fibreshed Day via Zoom and LearnAlong
April 3 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Fibreshed Day has been held the first weekend of April since 2016 at the Yurts in Madeira Park, in the middle of lambing and shearing season. It was always a joyous occasion for Fibreshed members and a wonderful spring annual gathering.
It is still a glorious time of year, and many of the same farm activities are continuing as usual. The missing piece, of course, is the coming together of the fibre community in person to celebrate our local producers and artisans. This will not happen again for the second year, but it is not forever. We are learning to adapt, reflect, and be with each other in different ways.
So this year we are celebrating with a Zoom Spring Spin-in! We also welcome all of you to bring the Fibreshed projects you are working on to share with others. Dorothy will demonstrate how to use the blending board, Robin will share her special Fibreshed story, we will share indigo seed-starting stories, and we hope to have bags of freshly shorn fleece on display.
In addition, this will be a good opportunity for those wanting to practice their spinning skills with a group. You are welcome to use a spinning wheel, drop spindle, or other means to spin local wool. This will be a fun opportunity to share tips and queries. If you are not yet a spinner, you are more than welcome to join the LearnAlong to observe, ask questions, and find out what spinning is all about!
The focus will be on working with the natural colours of our Fibreshed wool and some of the colours from our local plants and mushrooms.
The Zoom link will be sent to Fibreshed members before April 3. Hope to see you there.
